It was a special treat to have an extra day added to the weekend and to have a shorter school week. It also meant that we were able to rest and recover from many of the different viruses and colds that have plagued the past few weeks. There are some particularly nasty bugs doing the rounds at the moment and it is extremely important that we continue to practice good personal hygiene which includes covering the mouth when coughing, thoroughly washing hands and using hand sanitiser. With only three weeks left of school we hope to prevent the spread of germs. If your child is sick, vomiting or has COVID symptoms we do ask you to keep them at home until they are no longer contagious to help us stop the spread of sickness.
Next Saturday we will have the conferring of the Sacrament of Confirmation at the Vigil Mass on 21 June. Archbishop Prowse will visit our school on Friday 20th June in preparation for the Mass on Saturday. The staff and students will welcome the archbishop with morning tea and a tour of our school when he arrives on Friday. We hope to see you at the Confirmation Mass to celebrate this important milestone in our candidates Faith journey. Mass starts at 5pm. Our beautiful choir students will lead the singing at the Mass.
As the 2026 enrolment period continues we will host the Year 7 Information Session next Tuesday 17 June. We look forward to showcasing what we can offer for a secondary education and it is a chance to meet the teachers. This will be held in the Library at 5.30pm. Please contact the front office if you are unable to attend and would like the information made available for you. Likewise, if you know of anyone who is interested in attending for 2026 please encourage them to attend next Tuesday.
The Healthy Relationships program will once again be conducted in the secondary classes next week. We are grateful to the P & F for their financial support of the program and the ability to offer a subsidised cost to families. The presentations aims to provide a program specifically designed for adolescents, encouraging responsible decision-making regarding their relationships. The program Choices Decisions Outcomes® (CDO) has been chosen as it is consistent with Catholic teaching on sexuality and was written in the Australian context. The program presents factual information to the students; it is also designed to develop self-esteem, self-confidence, self-respect and respect for others. Students at each level are encouraged to consider the choices they have regarding their relationships and most importantly the potential consequences of those choices. Please ensure that you have completed the event consent on COMPASS.
Next week we welcome children's book author, Solli Raphael who will be visiting to give students from Stage 2, Stage 3 and Year 7 a talk on writing and slam poetry. This is a fabulous opportunity for our students to hear from a published author and hopefully inspire them to continue to build and appreciate the skills necessary to write and enjoy books and poetry. Please consult the event published on COMPASS.
In the final weeks of Term 2 there are a significant number of activities for our students across the school. There are several sporting carnivals for our students including the Western Region Athletics next Friday, Secondary Soccer Gala and Secondary Boys Rugby. Our Infants students are busy preparing for their Community Fair in Week 10 and our secondary students (Years 8 and 9) will be attending a Cootamundra Gundagai Shire Council funded mental health program at the Town Hall on Tuesday 2 July. Please consult all published events to ensure that consent has been given for students to attend any activity. It is a legal requirement to obtain consent whenever our students attend or participate in events off school campus. It is often challenging to chase parents for consent and students may have to be excluded from the activity.
Today our Year 9 students excitedly preparing the 100s of lamingtons that were required for their fundraising drive. Thank you to Ms Buchanan for her organisation and the community for their support of the fundraising initiative.
Enjoy the weekend and remember as the Dalai Lama proclaims "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."
God Bless,
